Port Geographe
A beautiful private house in Port Geographe
When you want to create a home with a style that transcends fashion and also complements its natural surroundings, you have to know that the devil is in the details. And a great detail consists in the materials that are used. In the beautiful Port Geographe of Western Australia there is a house for which particular attention has been paid to striking the balance - often precarious - of a house with an architectural cachet that finds meaning in the environmental context that surrounds it.
The designer's point of view
WA builder ProLiving crafted this modern house by gathering various materials, from different types of claddings to polished concrete and glass. ProLiving designer Kelly Price chose our Tumbled Reclaimed brick to give the house a texture and a touch of warmth, capable of affirming its contemporary aesthetic. According to Price, the house has "views of the Port Geographe Marina, and the Reclaimed brick -- with a variation of neutral and earthy tones -- links the house to the surrounding environment, mainly characterized by natural elements such as sand and water".
The Tumbled Reclaimed range has a naturally rustic finish that brings a distinctly tactile element to projects. Price affirmed that while designing this stand-out home, she was looking for a brick that "wasn't too dramatic, but stylish enough to make a real impact". After seeing our Tumbled Reclaimed brick, she immediately knew it was perfect for the Geographe Bay location.
Using the brick to establish an eye-catching street frontage, the effect extends deeply into the house, creating a visually impressive entryway threshold and providing a counterbalance to the sleek polished concrete floor. "The San Selmo bricks bring the wow factor with major street appeal," said Price. "It instantly draws your attention to the home."
Our Tumbled Reclaimed brick unifies the contrasting colors, claddings and textures on the house facade and softens the whole overall look. Finally, it creates a warm and inviting atmosphere, while maintaining a desirable contemporary look.
As the house is located near the Geographe Bay Marina, the client wanted to echo the nautical ties of the area through a modern aesthetic.
The mixture of claddings and the gently worn look of the bricks give a subtle nod to the life lived by the bay.
While ProLiving used a variety of tools from their design kit to suit the brief, Price said it's the Tumbled Reclaimed brick that the homeowners fell in love with. “They told us their favorite feature of the house is the brick. Everyone who comes across the house comments on how beautiful the bricks are. "
A range that suits any style
The Port Geographe house is a contemporary expression that uses the bricks to add depth and character. Nevertheless, the soft palette of the Tumbled Reclaimed range is also suited to more traditional styles. Working well as a unifying or stand-out component in a building, this brick almost invites you to run your hand over its rough - hewn texture and effortlessly adds an upper-level element to any kind of project.
